Detectives investigat­ing two suspected ram raids in Sunderland have appealed to the public for informatio­n.

David Baker: They may be already doing it, perhaps the armed response police could patrol the roads during the night, also a Land Rover with armed military doing the same. A stop and search policy. You shouldn’t be on the roads during the night without good cause.

Angela Young: I’ve lived in Tyne and Wear all my life, this is not surprising to me, It’s an embarrassm­ent. I’m sure things happen all over the country but we do seem to have some of the lowest of the low in this area. Shame for majority who are decent people.
