Care staff break into song to raise spirits

-

way of bringing some happiness to those in their care.

And it came in the form of song, as around 12 staff in a variety of roles at the home came together brandishing the likes of toilet roll and essential items as they performed in front of residents.

Support worker Josh Bewick, 21, from Redhouse, said: “We came up with the idea of performing for the residents in a bid to raise their spirits.

“We only did it the once – there was no rehearsing! “It was a good laugh. “One of the residents came up with the idea for the song and so we got around 12 staff members together ranging from nurses, carers, admin and kitchen staff to perform.

And the video of their performance, captured by nursing assistant Andy Bell, managed to reach an even bigger audience after it was posted on Facebook, attracting around 5,000 views.

Josh continued: “We are over the moon it managed to reach over 5,000 views.

“We didn’t expect that reaction.

“We just wanted top capture the moment for friends and family of the residents to see as it has been a big shock to them not to be able to see each other, so it offers a bit of reassurance.”

Northview Lodge is a purpose-built care home with 45 beds. Its latest CQC report rated it ‘outstanding’.
