Tributes have flooded in for online sensation Little Nana Iris after her devastated great-grandson posted a heartbreaking video to confirm the Sunderland legend has sadly died.

The straight-talking great-grandmother, who was ‘adored by millions’, won the hearts of the nation with her videos after her family set up a Facebook page in her honour.

Iris Amos, 92, shot to online fame back in 2018 and had been keeping people smiling ever since.

In a heartbreaking video, her great-grandson Paul Giles told her adoring fans that Iris had passed away on Wednesday, April 1.

He said: “At 1.30pm my Nana Iris passed away. Me and my Nana were holding her hand when she took her last breath at 1.30 today.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do now.

“She picked her time, April Fool’s Day as well – she had the last laugh. “That’s me Nana.” And tributes have flooded in for the Sunderland legend by fans who have been watching her videos over the last few years.

The Facebook page set up for the East End pensioner now has more than a 175,000 followers who have been left devastated by the news.

Iris became a famous face around Wearside – and she even took on a few viral sensations herself and was previously filmed doing the Baby

Shark dance.

Her devastated family are now arranging a funeral which they hope to film live for family, and fans, who can’t attend due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

“She went so peacefully though, we couldn’t have asked for better,” added Paul.

“We slept there me and my nana, got up during the night – turned her to get her comfortable.

“She just waited for the afternoon. I’ll keep you updated for the funeral.

“I’m being told I can record the funeral live for her family but her fans will be able to watch as well.

“I know it’s not the nicest thing but because of the circumstances that’s what we’ve got to do.”

“She was adored by millions, she was what she was.

“She was funny as out like you all know.

“I’ll keep you posted and I love you all the world Nana. See you soon.”
