Kind acts during crisis

-

1 ‘A HEART OF GOLD‘

These are just some of the compliments being shared online for Sunderland Royal Hospital nurse Emma Dalton, 25, after she spent her free time writing thank you notes to colleagues working on the NHS frontline. Martin Ridgewell: “I got one, it put a big smile on my face.” Ashley Johnson: “One of the kindest nurses I’ve ever had the pleasure of working alongside. Christine Taylor: “Well done Emma. Such an inspiring lady.” Jacqueline Brown: “Heart of gold.”

2 GOOD CALL FOR NHS STAFF

Vodafone is extending its 30-day free access to unlimited mobile data offer, by upgrading customers who have personal pay monthly contracts and are working for the NHS. These users will receive a text informing them of the upgrade from April 6

Vodafone has already upgraded pay monthly customers who were flagged as vulnerable.

This follows the launch of an offer of 30 days unlimited data for free. Any NHS staff or vulnerable customers with personal pay monthly contracts can still take advantage of this offer.

3 NO FEE FOR NHS WORKERS

A fitness provider has announced that its new home-based fitness programme will be available to NHS workers free of charge to thank them for their continued hard work in battling the coronavirus pandemic. Access to the four-week home-based programme and fitness app is usually £49 but elite: has confirmed that NHS workers can take part for free.

The app is available on Apple, Android devices and syncs with “wearables” including the Apple Watch and Fitbit. It means clients can track their fitness progress from home in keeping with the national guidelines.

4 NO CHARGE AT CAR PARK

Durham County Council had already announced charges would be scrapped at all its on and off-street public car parks during the COVID-19 outbreak. And this has also been extended to include the car park at Durham County Hall, just a few hundred yards from the University Hospital of North Durham (UHND).

Susan Robinson, head of corporate property and land at DCC, said: “We have made the car park at County Hall available to all key workers, but due to its location to the north of the city, the site is most convenient for staff and volunteers working at UHND
