MESSAGE TO OUR READERS: If you have activities that have now transferred online or to social media, email copydesk.northeast@jpress.co.uk with the details so we can help keep people in communities in touch with one another. We are happy to publicise news about any clubs, groups or organisations via Social Buzz.

An ‘egg-citing’ family activity

Don’t throw out your egg shells after cooking. Save them, give them a careful rinse and, once dry, why not get the family to decorate all of the half egg-shells? Turn them so the broken edge is at the bottom and then start painting or colouring them. Make a patterned design, or a ghost, chick, penguin, your family, a monster, your favourite yellow cartoon character … there is no limit to what you can do. Keep hold of the egg box, too, so you can display your creations once completed. Why not email your family activity ideas for our Social Buzz column at copydesk. northeast@jpress.co.uk and help keep our readers entertained.

Edinburgh Zoo live webcams

You can’t take the family to Edinburgh Zoo at the moment but why not bring the zoo to your family? It now has a variety of live webcams so you can watch penguins, tigers, koalas and Yang Guang the panda in real time on your PC, laptop, phone or tablet. As some of the animals are less active than others (koalas sleep for up to 22 hours a day), we found the penguin webcam the best to start with to avoid disappointment, especially if you have young children. Visit https://www.edinburghzoo. org.uk/webcams/penguincam/#penguincam for your window into this small animal world.
