‘Brilliant’ idea for little brands to offer boost to charity funds
“Relieving boredom of being stuck at home,” home alone families can support a group of national stall-holders, who have joined forces to fight for their businesses and charities they support by setting up new website Brilliant Little Brands.
The site https://brilliantlittlebrands.com/ is brainchild of two boutique fashion stall holders Emily Bradley, of Pink Avocet.com, and Amanda Hamlyn, of SW19London.com site.
It showcases all the brands and bijou products that would normally be sold at the charity events hosted by the Charity Fairs Association’s members.
Emily explained what inspired Amanda and her to set up BrilliantLittleBrands.com: “We usually sell at charity events and donate 10 per cent of our day’s takings. COVID-19 has closed all these events. That’s sad news for us but devastating for the charities depending on us for their fund-raising.
“As small businesses there is little we can do on our own but, by joining forces, we have created our own online fair.
“This month we’re supporting Age UK but it will be a different charity each month.”
Charity Fairs Association members host around 70 events across the country every year.
These events have raised over £6 million in the past five years.
All spring and summer events have been cancelled with key autumn and Christmas events at risk as the pandemic continues.
Charity Fairs Association chair Melissa Taylor said: “The closure of these events is a real blow to the fundraising of the charities we support.
“Setting up the website Brilliant Little Brands is a fantastic idea.
“We’re so grateful to our loyal stall-holder supporters for their help.”
Melissa continued: “It’s like a great cold remedy, working in three ways at once.
“It adds some fun to shopping and relieves the boredom of being stuck at home, supports independent retailers and also raises money for charity.
“I hope the British public will get behind the idea and help us all during these exceptional times,” added Melissa.
Non-profit making Charity Fairs events are normally run by individual organisers and committees in painstakingly chosen venues ranging from village halls to castles.
