Cats could cash in as Gers move in for Maja
Rangers are reportedly considering a move for ex-Sunderland striker Josh Maja – and that could be good news for the Black Cats.
Football Insider claim that the Gers are the latest side to show an interest in Maja, who swapped Sunderland for Bordeaux in January 2019.
Steven Gerrard has reportedly identified the youngster as an affordable replacement forthein-demandAlfredoMorelos – with a bid of £5million thought to be enough to test Bordeaux’s resolve.
And any move for the striker could be good news for Sunderland, withreportsinFrance suggesting that the Wearsiders placed a 10 per cent sell-on clauseinthedealthatsawMaja depart the Stadium of Light.
If the reported fee of £5million is correct, a windfall of £500,000 could be heading to the North East – although it remains to be seen when clubs will be allowed to sign players once again.
