Hold them to account

-

“Having digital skills is more important now than it’s ever been.”

It didn't take him long, Alan Wright that is, Echo letters Monday, March 30.

Boris Johnson could go out and personally infect the nation with Covid-19 and Alan Wright would still defend his actions.

He claims I'm a Labour party supporter but as I've always said whoever is in charge should be held to account, but sadly a lot in the media are not, so I'm trying to do my bit.

As anyone who reads the Echo will remember when Tony Blair was in charge of the last Labour government I was constantly having a pop at him for the illegal war.

Sadly every Tory MP voted and supported that invasion, he also ramped up the PFIs that saddled the taxpayer with unnecessary repayments, I was full on with the criticism.

So getting back, because of the government’s ideological programme over 10 years ago we saw massive underfunding mainly in the NHS and in the care service that had left them both unable to cope with a crisis like the pandemic that has now gripped this country.

The warnings came from China then Italy as to what was coming, and Boris Johnson's answer was to encourage people to go to the Cheltenham festival as long as you wash your hands.

There are doctors and nurses dying or in isolation now because the lack of frontline PPE because of this government’s intransigence, everyone must find this government and its handling of this crisis truly shameful.

Alan said I'm trying to make this political but it's there for everyone to see.

Whatever government is in charge they should always be held to account for its actions, and if the charge is ineptness Boris Johnson and his government have it by the bucket load.

Ged Taylor, Barnes.
