11 new coronaviru­s deaths recorded

A further 11 people have died in the care of the NHS trust which covers Sunderland.

The latest figures show that means 208 people have died in hospitals covered by South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.

Thetrust-wideriseis­part of a regional increase of 33 deaths to 809 COVID-19 fatalities.

It comes as NHS England confirmed a further 665 people, who had tested positive for coronaviru­s had died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 16,272.

Patients were aged between 26 and 102 and 26 of those patients, who were aged between 48 and 95, had no known underlying health condition.

In total, 809 people who had tested positive for coronaviru­s have died across the North East’s hospital trusts.

According to the figures from NHS England released yesterday, the breakdown of the number of deaths of people who tested positive for coronaviru­s at North East hospitals is as follows:
