Can’t get out? Can’t afford online designer beauty products? Fear not!

Olive oil, beer and milk are among ingredients that can be used to create cheap lockdown homemade pamper treatments.

Here is how they work:

The lactic acid found in milk has many health benefits and can be mixed with green tea to make a natural toner. You can also follow in Cleopatra’s footsteps, who enjoyed milk baths to help unclog pores.

The rough texture of sugar means it is a natural alternative to exfoliator. Use rough granulated sugar and mix with olive oil for best results. Apply pre-shave for a smooth finish and mix with peppermint oil for a soothing foot scrub.

Olive oil was always used by the ancient Egyptians for their hair and skin. You can heat it and massage into the hair and scalp to use as a conditioner. If you’re experiencing dry hands and cuticles, Olive oil can be mixed with aloe vera to create a hand moisturiser.

These are known for their absorbing properties. Grind some oats with granulated sugar and honey then massage into the face and leave for ten minutes to draw oil out of the skin. You can also add oats to a warm bath with baking soda as a great chicken pox pain relief.

Due to its natural antibacterial properties, you can add a few drops into a bath to help reduce inflammation, or combine with ground almonds for a cleansing face and body scrub. It can also be applied straight to the face for a natural hydrating mask.

Great acne treatment due to the yeast content. It helps fight excess sebum production, and subsequent bacteria that causes acne. Mix with egg whites and mashed strawberries to make an antiacne face pack.

Mixed with natural yoghurt, eggs make a great moisturising face mask. They can also be added to banana, olive oil and avocado to create a hydrating hair mask.

Coconut oil is great for removing make up and also couples up as a skin and hair softener. Due to its delicate properties, it can be used as an eye cream and replacing shaving foam with coconut oil leaves skin feeling extra smooth.
