Ex-Black Cat Henderson’s gesture to grieving fan
A touching gesture from Sunderland-born Jordan Henderson has gone viral – after the midfielder reached out to a Liverpool fan.
Herrington-born Henderson was supposed to visit lifelong Reds fan David Kerruish, but the current coronavirus lockdown put paid to those plans.
That, however, didnotdeter the former Sunderland man, who instead arranged a video call with Kerruish – who endured a tough end to 2019.
The Liverpool supporter lost both of his parents within a five-week spell, with wife Angela and sister Christiane subsequently reaching out to Henderson.
Andnotonlydidtheformer Black Cat speak with Kerruish and his family over a video call – which has been watched by over 250,000 people – he also invited them to Liverpool’s training centre to meet the first-team squad once social distancing guidelines have been lifted – and provided him with a pair of season tickets.
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, meanwhile, insists players are "scared" to return to action during the coronavirus pandemic.
The campaign has been suspended since March 13 and while clubs wants to finish the season, Aguero believes players are reluctant.
"Themajorityofplayersare scared because they have childrenandfamilies,"Aguerotold ArgentinianTVstationElChiringuito.
"I'mscaredbutI'mwithmy girlfriend here and I'm not going to be in contact with other people. I'm locked in my house and the only person I could infect is my girlfriend.
"They say there are people that have it and don't have any symptoms but still infect you. That's why I am at home.”
