Six more COVID-19 deaths confirmed

Six more coronaviru­s-related deaths have been confirmed at Sunderland’s hospital trust.

The latest figures from NHS England yesterday, show 285 people who tested positive for the virus in the South Tyneside and Sunderland trust’s hospitals have died in total.

There have been 1,115 coronaviru­srelated deaths across the region’s seven hospital trusts.

Nationally, a further 366 people who tested positive for coronaviru­s have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 21,750.

Patients were aged between 29 and 99 and 14 of them – aged between 49 and 85 – had no known underlying health condition.

According to the latest figures released by Public Health England on Monday,

the number of cases of COVID-19 in the city has risen to 1,212.

The total number of cases in the North East now stands at 8,251:

County Durham: 1,532; Sunderland: 1,212; Newcastle: 943; Gateshead: 878; Northumber­land: 809; South Tyneside: 603; Middlesbro­ugh: 582; North Tyneside: 493; Stockton: 367; Redcar & Cleveland: 330; Darlington: 301; Hartlepool: 201. In total, 1,115 people who had tested positive for coronaviru­s have died across the North East’s hospital trusts.
