Virus death toll for Trust reaches 300
The number of coronavirus-related deaths in Sunderland’s hospital trust has reached 300.
Figures from NHS England yesterday show another death has been recorded at the South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust in addition to yesterday’s figure of 299, when no new deaths had been recorded at the trust.
Across the North East’s seven hospital trusts, a total of 1,206 coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded.
Nationally, a further 244 people who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 23,952.
Public Health England figures released on Tuesday show that the number of confirmed cases across the city now stands at 1,325.
In total, 1,206 people who had tested positive for coronavirus have died across the North East’s hospital trusts.

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust – Total number of deaths at the trust: 92. Number of deaths announced yesterday: 2.
County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust – Total number of deaths at the trust: 204. Number of deaths announced yesterday: 1.
