Lee predicts ‘exciting’ end to the campaign

-

Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer is predicting an ‘exciting’ end to the Championship season – as his side look to claw themselves clear of relegation danger.

Boro beat Charlton in their final fixture before all second tier matches were suspended, boosting their own survival hopes while sending the Addicks into the relegation zone.

But Bowyer believes that there will be plenty more twists and turns to come when the Championship season resumes.

No firm return date has been set as of yet, but a vast majority of clubs – including Middlesbrough – want to play on.

And Bowyer believes that Boro and Charlton will be one of several teams involved in a ‘mini-league’ at the foot of the table when football returns.

“It’s a mini-league, it’s going to be exciting because every point is going to be valuable,” he said, speaking to Charlton’s official website.

“We have to make sure that we are ready. Every game is going to be like a cup final because there are only so many games left. It’s going to be good.

“It will be strange with no fans but we’ll be ready.

“Once that first day comes, I’ll be looking forward to that, to get back to things from a competitive side.

“From what I understand it will be Saturday-TuesdaySaturday-Tuesday until the end of the season.

“I’m glad we’ve got a full squad because as you know we’ve got players that can’t do Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday, so we’ll have to rotate and we’ll have to use everyone in the squad.”
