Another coronavirus death confirmed
Another coronavirus-related death has been confirmed in Sunderland’s hospital trust – and there may be more to be reported.
Figures released by NHS England yesterday, show that one more person with coronavirus has died at Sunderland and South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust, bringing the total deaths at the trust to 316.
But the NHS said its Covid Patient Notification System did not operate between 4.55am and 3pm on Sunday, due to connectivity issues experienced by an external supplier.
The system is now fully operational and the reports of any deaths which were not able to be entered on Sunday will be uploaded and included in later figures.
A total of 1,301 deaths have been confirmed across the region’s hospital trusts; a rise of three.
Nationally, a further 59 people who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 25,750, subject to revision. Patients were aged between 44 and 98.
Separate figures released on Sunday, by Public Health England show that there are no new coronavirus cases in Sunderland, with the number of cases remaining at 1,369.
There are 9,879 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the North East: County Durham: 1,936; Sunderland: 1,369; Newcastle: 1,040; Gateshead :993; South Tyne side: 730; Middlesbrough: 665; North Tyneside :564; Red car& Cleveland: 404; Darlington: 368; Hartlepool: 322.
