Sunderland Echo

Agree and yet disagree

- Ged Taylor, Barnes.

I never thought that I would see the day when I would say, that I totally agree with a letter from Scotty Andrews, but I did regarding his recent letter published in the Echo.

Well I only agreed with the last paragraph when he wrote about himself, “I'm glad it's not me having to make these decisions”, he was sticking up for poor Boris Johnson.

I'll bet there was a collective “we are right behind you there mate”.

Scott is a traditional Tory who thinks Boris Johnson is doing his best and the country should forgive his mistakes as he never had the benefit of hindsight that all his critics have.

I'm afraid that old flannel is still not washing Scotty.

The press and social media is littered with clips and examples going back to 2016 where this government was warned about a virus that was inevitable and possibly catastrophic.

The majority of the world listened and prepared, yet this government chose not to listen or to stockpile or prepare in anyway.

Hopefully Piers Morgan and some of the press keep holding this prime minister Boris Johnson and his government to account, not just for now or for any party political reasons, but for our children and their children's futures.
