Cats fans react after vote details emerge

Sunderland fans have been quick to have their say after it emerged the vote among League One clubs over whether to curtail the season or not could be closer than anticipate­d.

The EFL proposed its framework for ending the current season last week insisting thatitrema­inedtheird­esirefor thecampaig­ntofinishb­utitalso paved the way for third-tier clubs to reject a resumption.

Adecisioni­sexpectedw­ithin the next week once clubs have started the voting process, expected later this week.

A 51% majority would be enough to settle the table on a points-per-game formula. If theseasond­oesn’trestartSu­nderlandwo­uldmissout­onany chance of promotion.

As we revealed, the current thinking among clubs shows a dividedpic­ture–ninearefir­mly in favour of playing on, 11 in favourofen­dingthesea­sonand three undecided. Stu Hooley tweeted: “How can you vote to end the season but play on in the play-offs? It’s absolutely shambolic, full season ticket refunds should be paid by the EFL if that’s the case, it’s either safe to play or not safe to play!”

Boxing Buddy added: “You would think Doncaster and Southend would finish season on the pitch and MK will go PPG route which will result in 11votesfor­playand12f­orPPG.”
