Pochettino drops hint about his next job amid Newcastle links

-

Mauricio Pochettino has spoken about his next managerial job.

Pochettino is the oddson favourite to be Newcastle United’s next manager as the Premier League considers a £300million takeover of the club.

The 48-year-old took Tottenham Hotspur to last season’s Champions League final, where they were beaten by Liverpool.

Pochettino, sacked late last year, is determined to win his first trophy as manager at his next club. “That moment will arrive when we have to win a trophy,” Pochettino told La Liga TV.

“Society only recognises the one that wins a title and lifts it. We’re in this fight to try to do that.

“But we have lifted many ‘trophies’. When you leave a good impression with the people you worked with, helped people to progress or when people are proud to have worked with you – they’re also trophies that must be celebrated.”

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is happy for England left-back Danny Rose, 29, to stay on loan at Newcastle until the season is completed.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are set to join the race to sign outof-contract Bournemouth star Ryan Fraser, according to reports.

Fraser, 26, is set to depart the Vitality Stadium when his contract expires at the end of the season following seven years on the south coast.

Arsenal and Tottenham want to sign the Scotland international but they could soon face competition from the Magpies, as claimed by Football Insider.

Subject to the £300million takeover of Amanda Staveley being approved by the Premier League, the report states United’s owners-in-waiting are already in contact with leading agents ahead of the summer transfer window.

One player that has come to the attention is Fraser and a new and extremely wealthy Newcastle are being tipped to entice him to St James’s Park.

They say the new ownership – which includes Saudi Arabia’s PIF and the Reuben brothers – are planning major investment in players and infrastructure in order to ‘major moves in the market’.

*Liverpool are in discussions to extend the loan deals of 23-year-old Welsh midfielder Harry Wilson at Bournemouth and English striker Rhian Brewster, 20, at Swansea until the end of the season.
