North East’s death toll rises to 1,358

Another coronaviru­s-related death has been reported in Sunderland’s NHS Trust.

According to the latest figures released by NHS England yesterday, one new corona virus-related death at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust has been recorded, meaning the total number of deaths at the trust now stands at 321.

Public Health England also reportedon Wednesday, that there have been no new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sunderland, leaving the total standing at 1,381.

In total, 1,358 people who had tested positive for coronaviru­s have died across the North East’s hospital trusts – arise of six since Wednesday.

A further 115 people, who tested positive for coronaviru­s (COVID-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 27,159.

Patients were aged between 26 and 100. Five of the 115 patients( aged between 53 and 97) had no known underlying health condition.

Deaths are announced on an NHS trust level – there is no public breakdown of the number of deaths per hospital.
