No new COVID-19 deaths for third day

NHS England has confirmed that there are no new coronaviru­s-related deaths at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust for the third day running.

Figures released yesterday, by NHS England show that no further coronaviru­s-related deaths have been recorded at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust for the third day in a row.

The total number of deaths at the trust remains at 323.

In total, 1,392 people who had tested positive for coronaviru­s have died across the North East’s hospital trusts, a rise of three since Wednesday.

Nationally, a further 83 patients have died in hospitals across England, bringing the total number of deaths to 27,790.

Patients were aged between 26 and 102. All of them had underlying health problems.

Deaths are reported by trust only and there is no public breakdown of deaths per hospital.

According to the figures, the breakdown of the number of deaths of people who tested positive for coronaviru­s at North East hospitals includes: Northumbri­a Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: Total number of deaths: 197. Deaths announced yesterday: 0.North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust: Total number of deaths: 134. Deaths announced yesterday: 0. Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: Total number of deaths: 114. Deaths announced yesterday: 0. South Tees NHS Foundation Trust: Total number of deaths: 248. Deaths announced yesterday: 2.
