Trust’s 10th day with no virus-related death

Sunderland’s hospital trust has not reported any coronaviru­s-related deaths for the tenth day in a row as no new cases of the virus are confirmed in the city.

Official NHS England figures released earlier in the day show the number of COVID-19 fatalities within South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust remains at 325.

The last death to be recorded by the trust was on Sunday, June 21, with no public breakdown available for where the victims are from.

The total number of coronaviru­s-related deaths across the UK has now risen to 43,906.

Figures released by Public Health England show there were no new cases of the virus were confirmed in the city yesterday.

The total number of confirmed infections across the city since the start of the pandemic is 1,388.

In total, 1,422 people who had tested positive for coronaviru­s have died across the North East’s hospital trusts according to data released by NHS England.

According to the latest figures released by Public Health England on Wednesday, July 1, there are 10,566 confirmed cases of coronaviru­s in the North East - a rise of eight compared to Tuesday. Here is a breakdown of the cases by local authority area:
