Another of Sunderland city centre’s largest pubs has announced it will not be reopening today, despite the Government giving the green light for pubs to do so. With a capacity of 800 people, The Rabbit in High Street West is one of the bigger pubs in the city and is technically allowed to reopen for the first time in three months this weekend. However, the management has chosen not to open their doors yet over fears for customer and staff safety.

Brenda Clark: People are scared. The virus is still there.. I won't be going to any pub or restaurant.

Mick Palmer: 11-3 and 7-11. Go back to that for a few months like in the old days.

John Redman: I’m of a certain age so will give it a miss. However, if i was a yungun i would be down their with a leg off, like i used to do. Hope the kids have a great time and there is no bother. Personally, i think the kids have been amazing adhering and agreeing with this lockdown.

Luke Stott: Ha ha have they? How many kids were seen still meeting in groups during lockdown?

John Redman: Must admit, if i think back to when i was young would i have been as disciplined as the majority of this lot, 'not a chance'. Hope they enjoy it.

Sam Brookes: They’ve had plenty of time to get it sorted not that i will be going into a pub yet.

Phil Parkinson reveals Sunderland are 'close' to their first summer signing.

Peter Ross: I hope it’s Jack Rodwell. He’s available on a free transfer and would run the show in League One.

Joe Short: No no no Rodwell has not played 3 games on the trot for 5 years even we can't be that stupid to have him back!

Barry Walker: It will be a free transfer! Probably that keeper from Villa. Or a keeper with no club, Ben Alnwick.

Mark Harding: I was pinning my hopes on Marcus Maddison or Bailey Wright. It'll be Alnwick though, nailed on, it's our way lol
