No COVID-19 deaths for 16 days in a row

Sunderland’s hospital trust has announced no new deaths relating to COVID-19 for the 16th day in a row.

Figures released yesterday by NHS England show that no further coronaviru­s-related deaths have been recorded at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.

The total number of deaths at the trust remains at 325.

The last death to be recorded by the trust was on Sunday, June 21.

In total, 1,423 people who had tested positive for coronaviru­s have died across the North East’s hospital trusts, no change since Monday.

Nationally, a further 36 patients have died in hospitals across England, bringing the total number of deaths to 28,940.

Patients were aged between 53 and 98. Two, aged 83 and 85, had no underlying health conditions.

Deaths are reported by trust only and there is no public breakdown of deaths per hospital.
