Detectives have launched an investigation into an attack which saw a cyclist threatened with a machete in Sunderland.
Northumbria Police launched an appeal for witnesses after the incident, which happened on Springwell Road in the city.
Officers received a report that a 20-yearold man had been attacked as he was cycling along the busy road on Tuesday, June 23, at about 8.30pm.
As the cyclist reached the central reservation near the Lidl supermarket on Durham Road, he was stopped by two other men, who were also on bikes.

An investigation has been launched and officers are now appealing for anyone with information or witnesses to the incident to come forward.
Police also believe that anybody travelling on Springwell Road by car at that time, who may have dashcam footage, might be able to assist them with their inquires into the incident.
