STORY:

Scientists say a second wave of coronavirus over winter could be 'worse than first' with 120,000 UK deaths.

Paul McCerery:

Since things have reopened from last month, the marches we had, everyone who went to the beaches, the spike that govt and other people said would happen has not happened. Why would people in authority want to scare people, we need too get back too normal.

Nita Tennant:

The science says everyone must play their part in eradicating this virus. 1. wash hands thoroughly. 2. keep 2m apart. 3. if 2m isn’t possible you must use masks etc in all indoor settings and crowded places. 4. self isolate if u have symptoms. Following science not government advice is going to get us near enough covid free before the winter months, they have predicted a second wave worse than the first if we’re too complacent now.

Mary Haig:

Here here!

Vivienne Young:

Just got to get everyone to play their part.

Kelly Stobbart:

Most need to play their part but because things are going back to normal in a semi way they think the rules don’t apply anymore.

John Appleby:

Stop this scaremongering.

Tony Franklin:

Key word here being "Could"... It "Could" also be better.…

STORY:

Work is set to begin on a new Sunderland housing development after contracts were exchanged for the purchase of land. The scheme, to be called Lowry Park, will consist of 82 homes built on the eight acres off Lowry Road, a short distance from the seafront at Seaburn and the Morrisons supermarket.

Philip Thompson:

Takes away all the parking for the sea front! So shortsighted!

Stephen Harper:

So they are getting built on the car park? So where on earth are you supposed to park your car if your travelling to Seaburn for the day?

Margy James:

Again nothing for the kids no wonder South Shields is doing better.
