No virus-related deaths for 29 days
Sunderland’s hospital trust has gone 29 days without a coronavirus-related death.
NHS England figures on Monday show no new virusrelated deaths in the South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.
The total number of deaths remains at 325, with the last death reported on Sunday, June 21.
Today’s figures also show no virus-related deaths have been recorded at hospital’s across the North East, with the region’s death toll standing at 1,424.
The last death to be recorded at a North East NHS Trust was in County Durham on Wednesday, July 8.
A further six people who tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) have died nationally, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,187.
Patients were aged between 74 and 98-year-old and all had known underlying health conditions.
Figures released by Public Health England on Sunday showed three new case of COVID-19 have been reported in Sunderland.
The total number of cases in the city stands at 1,776. Across the region, 21 more cases were confirmed, including six in County Durham, three in both Northumberland and Newcastle, two in Redcar and Cleveland and one in both Middlesbrough and Hartlepool.
They brought the total of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the North East to 15,227.
In total, 1,424 people who had tested positive for coronavirus have died across the North East’s hospital trusts, according to data released by NHS England on Monday, July 20.
