Man’s charge of possessing axe and grievous bodily harm bid

A man has been charged with unlawfully possessing an axe in public and attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm on a second man.

Jordan Ramsey, 27, of Hylton Road, Sunderland, faces one additional count of criminally damaging a front door and a window unit belonging to a woman at an address in the city.

Mark Richard Ramsey, 49, also of Hylton Road, appeared before magistrate­s on the same day to face two charges.

He is accused of unlawfully possessing a knife in a public place and inflicting grievous bodily harm upon the same man.

Both unlawfully possessing bladed article charges are said in court documents to have happened in Galashiels Road, Grindon, on Monday, July 13.

The remaining accusation­s also centre around allegation­s arising on the same day.

Both men were granted conditiona­l bail by South Tyneside Magistrate­s’ Court, in South Shields, on Wednesday until next month.

They will make their first appearance at Newcastle

Crown Court in connection with the case on Wednesday, August 12.

The conditions imposed on Wednesday include making them subject to a 7pm7am curfew at their shared home address and that neither man must enter an area bordered by the A183 Chester

Road, Greenwood Road, Gleneagles Road and Grindon Lane.

They must also wear an electronic monitoring tag each as part of their respective bails and not attempt to contact, either directly or indirectly, the two alleged victims in the case.
