No virus deaths in the city for 30 days

Sunderland has now gone 30 days without a corona virus related death.

NHS England figures yesterday show no new virusrelat­ed deaths in the South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.

The total number of deaths in the trust remains at 325, with the last reported on Sunday, June 21.

No new virusrelat­ed deaths have been recorded at hospitals across the North East today, with the region’s death toll standing at 1,424.

The last death to be recorded at a North East NHS Trust was in County Durham on Wednesday, July 8.

Nationally, a further 15 people who tested positive for the Corona virus( C OVID -19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,202.

Patients were aged between 46 and 90-years-old. Five patients, aged between 46 and 84, had no known underlying health conditions.

Figures released by Public Health England on Monday show a single new case of COVID-19 was reported in Sunderland. The total number of cases in the city stands at 1,777.

Across the region, seven more cases were confirmed, including two in Newcastle. They brought the total of confirmed cases of coronaviru­s in the North East to 15,234.

July 2 marked the first time that P HE released numbers of lab-confirmed positive cases through testing in all settings. These daily figures now combine pillar one testing data (those from a laboratory setting) and pillar two tests (those carried out in the wider community).
