Second time of fifth generation for family
An Easington Colliery family, which now spans five generations for the second time, is welcoming the arrival of a beautiful baby girl.
Little Alayah Rose Robson was born on June 24 much to the delight of her family – which now stretches back to to her great-great-grandmother Monica Robinson, 88.
Her parents, joiner Matthew Robson, 23, and dental nurse Jazmyn Kirkup, 21, are delighted to welcome their little girl into the world as they get ready to move into their new home near Easington Colliery.
Back when Matthew was born in October 1996 he became the fifth generation in his family and was the greatgreat-grandson of Gladys Moreland, who sadly passed away in 2004.
With the arrival of Alayah Rose, who weighed 7lb 3oz, the family are back to five generations once again and has been able to meet grandmother Melanie Carr, 43, great-grandmother, Lynda Smith, 65, and great-greatgrandmother Monica Robinson.
Proud grandmother, Melanie Carr, who now lives in Hetton, said: “When my son, Matthew, was born he became the first first-born boy in the family – prior to his arrival all the first-borns had been little girls.
"It’s rare to have five generations in a family and for it to happen twice is amazing.”
Melanie, who works for Durham County Council like her mum, Lynda Smith, added: "We’re all delighted to have another baby in the family – the last was my daughter Caitlyn who is now 19.
"Alayah is only three weeks old but she’s such a content beautiful baby.”
