Hays Travel is looking to take on travel consultants as it expands its homeworking team following lockdown.

The UK’s largest independent travel agent is offering those with a passion for travel the opportunity to work at home and be their own boss as a self-employed travel consultant.

Hays Travel, the company that rescued the Thomas Cook retail operation last October, is expanding its nationwide homeworking division to support the anticipated demand for holidays as the COVID-19 lockdown eases.

The company retained the majority of its 3,000 retail staff working from home during lockdown and has now reopened the majority of its 650 branches around the UK.

The opportunity to join the team is available to anyone regardless of experience – but those who do apply need to have exceptional customer service skills, a lively personality, and the ability to build rapport with customers over the phone, by email, social media and face to face.

Hays Travel is also continuing to recruit experienced travel agents and apprentices for roles in shops across the UK and at the head office in Sunderland.

Irene Hays, co-owner and chair of Hays Travel said: “We know that COVID-19 means that many people are considering their work options right now.

"Some people have enjoyed the benefits of working from home, while others may be looking for a complete change of career. Being a Hays Travel self-employed personal travel consultant means you can work at home with all the flexibility that brings, but you are never alone, because you have our experienced teams right beside you.”

For those just joining the industry, the award-winning Hays Travel Academy provides a comprehensive training programme and everyone is provided with their“business in a box” including the technology and equipment to set up.

There is also ongoing support and one-to-one coaching for all home workers from Hays Travel professionals in sales, marketing and personal development.

Consultants can work as much or as little as they wish, with some of the most successful earning up to £100,000 in a year.
