ForsterCaskey wants to put things right

-

Jake Forster-Caskey feels he has unfinished business at Charlton and wants to help the club make an immediate return to the Sky Bet Championship.

The 26-year-old midfielder, who endured a stop-start 2019/20 campaign due to injuries, has opted to stay at the Valley for another 12 months.

Forster-Caskey managed just 12 appearances last term but feel she is now getting back to his best. “Over the last nine games of the season, I felt like I was back to myself,” he said.

“I had a big injury( A CL) and I’ ve picked up some niggles, but if you look at most people who come back off the back of a big injury, that is the way in the following season because your body is getting used to playing football again.

“The club have stuck by me and I want to stick by the club to help them get back where they belong. It’s frustrating and disappointing what’s happened, because I don’t feel like we deserved to go down. The only thing you can do is get on with it, pick yourself up and go again.

"As players, we all don’t believe the club should be in League One and I’ve signed because I want to get the club get back up again.”

*Fulham will make a late decision over star striker Mitrovica head of the Sky Bet Championship play-off semi-final second leg with Cardiff tonight.

Mitrovic was not risked in Monday’s 2-0 first-leg win in south Wales with a hamstring injury and boss Scott Parker must again decide whether to play the division’s top scorer.

Ivan Cavaleiro will also be assessed after he returned to training following a similar problem. Cardiff have no fresh injury concerns following the first-leg loss.
