Allan steals the show as in-form Sunderland tame the Lyons

The home side started well with opener Joseph Forster making 68 runs from 87 balls, which included 11 fours and Michael Walker who made 43 not out.

However, they fell just six runs short on 205-8 as Lewis Williams, Jonathan Malkin and Isaac Unsworth each claiming two wickets apiece.

In the west group, Chester-le-Street journeyed to Lanchester and the home side decided to bat first on winning the toss. They slumped to 56 all out as Brodie Glendinnin­g and Jack Campbell each took five wickets.

In reply, the Cestrians fared marginally better, which helped maintain their 100 per cent record and had George Harrison to thank for his vital knock of 25 in their total of 58-7 despite the efforts of Kieran Gohery, who claimed 4-24.

Washington have also won their first three matches as they beat Burnopfiel­d at their Harraton Road Ground by 107 runs.

They made 235-6 with contributi­ons from Josh Wilson (45), Adam Hickey (64) and Joe Thompson (37).

The visitors lost early wickets and, although John Oswell (38) and Chris Greaves (32) offered resistance, they crumbled to 128 all out. Liam Hickey, Adam Hickey and Ash Thorpe each claimed three wickets.

Crook hosted Sacriston at Dawson Street in a run fest as the visitors amassed 2496. Opener Edward Foreman scored 65 and Ross Whitfield Jnr 85 as they put on 99 for the third wicket, with James Hindmarsh claiming 3-42 with the ball.

The home side then squeezed home by one wicket off the last ball of the game to win by one wicket. Steve Chapman (32), James Hindmarch (36), Daniel Pratt (31) and Jamie Wills (35no) all contribute­d, and they were helped by 45 extras, of which 32 were wides.

Group A leaders South Shields maintained their 100 per cent winning start with a 107-run win at home to Marsden in the Durham and North

Visiting opener Mathew Evans resisted with 48 but they then collapsed to 126 all out. Joshua Leslie claimed an excellent 5-25 and then Sam Embleton with 3-30 as they bowled their team to another victory.

The big game at the top of the Group B between Littletown and Brandon went the way of the home side, just, by one wicket.

Visitors Brandon batted first and were 16-3 until Dean Storey Jnr belted 49 form 46 balls, which included eight fours and two sixes. Opener Marcus Maughan had earlier made 26 runs but excellent bowling from David Craig (335) and Matthew Fishburn (3-20) limited the score to 147 all out.

Littletown in reply had three players in their top five who made 20 and above in David Craig, Matt Dench and Matthew Fishburn. But it was Bryan Conlon who won them the match with a vital 31 not out in a 10-run last wicket partnershi­p with Pete Denley. Gordon Muchall claimed 3-41 with the ball.

Peterlee beat third-placed Mainsforth to secure their first win of the season. Peterlee made 159-9 as Ryan Nicholson, John Cavanagh and Ryan Dawson each claimed two wickets.

In reply, the visitors scored 113 all out with Kieron Buck taking 3-35.
