The key dates Sunderland fans need for first half of the season

Sunderland are already taking steps to ensure they can welcome as many supporters as possible into the Stadium of Light once safe to do so.

The summer transfer window will close on October 5 – albeit only for internatio­nal transfers.

This shouldn’t have too much of an impact on Sunderland given the bulk of their business is likely to be done with fellow EFL and Premier League sides.

But if the Black Cats want to sign a player from overseas, or indeed allow someone to move on to a club abroad, then it will have to be signed and sealed by this date.

This is the date on which the domestic transfer window will close – representi­ng Sunderland’s final chance to add to their ranks before the winter window.

Only deals involving Premier League and EFL clubs can be completed between October 5 and October 16.

It is understood that this is when the first round of the FA Cup is provisiona­lly planned for. Sunderland will again enter the competitio­n at this stage.

Sunderland are likely to see a number of players jet-off during internatio­nal windows, with fixture currently on these dates: August 31 – September 8 October 5 – October 13 November 9 – November 17 March 22 – March 30

Games could be postponed if the Black Cats have three players called-up.
