Sunderland considering second move for Graham

-

Sunderland are in the market for a new striker - with Danny Graham one of the names under consideration.

While the Black Cats have already added versatile attacker Aiden O’Brien to their ranks this summer, Phil Parkinson remains on the lookout for an out-and-out striker – having seen forward duo Duncan Watmore and Kyle Lafferty depart this summer.

And Graham is one of the names under consideration by staff at the Academy of Light, with his fine record in the Championship and League One proving attractive.

The Gateshead-born striker had a disappointing spell at the Stadium of Light between 2013 and 2016, netting just once in 42 appearances, but has a proven track record in League One.

And it’s for that reason that Sunderland are far from the only side interested in the 34-year-old, with Ipswich Town also keeping tabs on Graham’s situation.

Ipswich boss Paul Lambert previously managed the striker during his spell at Blackburn Rovers.

But what next for the man himself?

When quizzed on his next move by Blackburn’s official website last month, Graham was coy on his future.

But the former Middlesbrough man did express a desire to play at the highest level possible.

“More goa ls,” said Graham, when asked what the future holds.

"Hopefully more milestones. I do feel as though I’ve got two to three years left playing at a good level, if my body allows that.

"I’ve still got that drive to go on and be successful and do well.”
