Expansion plan will create new 17 jobs
Plans have been lodged for a new distribution centre in Washington to support the expansion of an engineering company – which would create 17 jobs.
A planning application to redevelop a 2.4-acre site in the Turbine Business Park area has been submitted to Sunderland City Council.
The plans, from Ralgreen on behalf of Windsor Engineering Ltd, include two commercial units near the Future Technology Centre.
According to planning documents, the development is expected to create 17 full-time jobs and represents the “new British arm” of Windsor Engineering Ltd.
If approved, around 463 sqm of office space would be created over two floors alongside 845 sqm of workshop and storage space.
A total of 32 parking spaces would be provided to serve the units alongside external yard areas.
A Design and Access Statement submitted with the application outlines the reasons for the scheme.
It reads: “Windsor Engineering need to expand their ever-growing business as demand for their products becomes increasingly greater.
“The proposal is to create a new distribution facility with associated offices on this site specifically in this key area of the country. The layout of the proposed buildings and external areas have been carefully integrated into the site and overall master plan.”
A consultation on the plans will remain open until Tuesday, September 8 with council planners expected to rule on the application by mid-November.
