Durham continue their Vitality Blast T20 campaign with a B a n k H o l i d ay w e e ke n d double-header against Notts Outlaws and Leicestershire Foxes, with Nathan Rimmington urging his teammates to improve their "execution with the ball".

The Emirates Riverside outfit started their 20-over c a m p a i g n w i t h a 27- r u n North Group defeat against a Keaton Jennings-inspired Lancashire Lightning side on Thursday.

The ex-Durham batsman scored his maiden T20 century to haunt his former club with an outstanding knock of 108, sharing a record-breaking opening stand of 170 with partner Alex Davies for the Red Rose.

He blasted 10 fours and three sixes to reach three figures for the first time in the format, propelling his team to a total of 190-3 from their 20 overs.

Durham were under severe pressure from the off in their chase and were never able to match the required run rate.

Alex Lees offered resistance, scoring 51 with a couple of maximums, but the total was always out of their reach, with the Lightning clinching the win by 27 runs.

Durham's Nathan Rimmington said: "They got away to a really good start and it was hard to claw back.

"Keaton Jennings played really well and sometimes you just have to tip your cap.

"He played outstanding and it was a great knock.

"We have to be better as well.

"Our execution with the ball was off and you saw the result.

"I t's h a rd t o c l aw b a c k sometimes and I think we were staring down the barrel of 210 or 220 at one stage.

"We gave ourselves a little bit of a chance with the bat, but things did not go our way in the powerplay and we were left with too much from the final overs.

"You do just have to keep hanging there sometimes in T20 sometimes and hope that anything can happen."

Lancashire's Keaton Jennings said: "Durham has been a special place in my career so to come back and score some runs here was fantastic.

"If you look at the opposition there are a lot of my close mates in there.

"So to get runs against a lot of your close mates is exciting. It was great to get us over the line today.

"It's really bittersweet, but it was a special day for me."
