Easington’s progress in the lap of the cricket gods

-

Easington play in their fi - nal group match tomorrow when they take on Evenwood at home.

Easington know that they must win and then await results of teams around them to see if it will be enough to qualify for the latter stages of the new Frank Lees Trophy.

Last Saturday, Easington notched their biggest win for sometime when beating Hunwick by 193 runs.

Easington rattled up 269-3 from their 40 overs and then dismissed Hunwick for a paltry 76, however, that score f ro m Hu nw ic k wa s d ow n to some excellent all-round bowling.

Club spokesman Arthur B ro x s o n s a i d “We a re a l l pleased that after losing our first two matches when the competition commenced, we have taken it to a last day decider and our fate will be known.

"Firstly, we have to win tomorrow and secondly, we will be anxiously waiting on how the other results go on the day. Losing to Littletown and Ushaw Moor and having the match at home to Brandon called off without a ball being bowled could cost us in the end.”

T h e way t h i n g s s t a n d going into the final group matches sees Esh Winning and Mainsforth on 18 points, Brandon (17) and Easington (16) and with three points for a win, Easington can finish on 19 points and it will be down as to how the nearby clubs do.”

The team selected to travel to take on Evenwood at home to m o r row w i l l b e c h o s e n from: J Moses, D Wilson, F Hussain, O Shahid, D Tarn, J Ruddock, G Akers, C Robson, J Goodrum, I Rickaby, J Wilson, J Davis, A Price, A Fox, J Broom.
