Liddle sets sights on extending West End’s victorious start to season

Sunderland West End manager Darren Liddle has called for focus from his side are they prepare to visit Brandon United this weekend.

West End belatedly got their new season underway by claiming an impressive three points at Tow Law Town on Wednesday night as late goals from Dane Burlace and Matthew Hughes helped them to a 2-0 win at Ironworks Road.

Liddle’s side will now look towards Saturday’s trip to Brandon as they look to sec u re bac k- to - bac k l ea g ue wins for the first time since they joined the Northern League last season.

The West End manager told the Echo: “We never had back-to-back win last season; we had some very good wins but never backed it up in the next game.”

He added: “That is the target for us now – Tow Law is gone, and it’s done with, it’s all about Saturday against Brandon United.

“We want points on the board, and it’s all about getting points as early as possible.”

Dane Burlace will miss the game as he is on trial at Sky Bet League One club Fleetwood Town and Lewis Lynn is unavailabl­e.
