Burnmoor see off South North to reach Banks Salver final

Burnmoor reached the Dukes E C B No r th E a s t Pre m i e r League Banks Salver final with a terrific 42-run win at South Northumber­land.

A s ke d to bat f i r s t th ey made 187-9 from th eir 4 0 overs.

Opener Ross Greenwell was top scorer with 72 off 84 balls, which included five fours and two sixes, while Ryan Pringle added a useful 29 to the total, despite Oliver McGee taking 4-36.

Man of the match Greenwell then took two early wickets as the hosts slumped to 23-3.

Alexander Simpson, Craig Stephenson and Ryan Pringle then got in on the act, each claiming two wickets apiece, as they bowled the home side out for 145 despite a valiant effort from skipper Adam Cragg who made 54.

Chester-le-Street are also through to the final after they beat Benwell Hill by seven wickets at Ropery Lane.

The visitors decided to bat first with opener Luke Doneathy scoring 32, while Finn McCreath and Rory Hanley both scored 23, in a total of 153 all out.

On the bowling front Brodie Glendinnin­g, Amaan UlHaq and Liam Burgess each took two wickets.

The Cestrians got off to a solid start with George Harrison scoring 38.

Skipper John Coxo n (46no) and Quentin Hughes (25no) then put on an unbroken stand of 70 for the third wicket to guide their side to a comfortabl­e win.

Sunderland were in impressive form at Osborne Avenue, the home of Newcastle, as they beat their hosts by ten wickets and will now play Ashington in the Banks Salver Plate final.

T h e A s h b ro o ke out f i t asked the home side to bat first and Zaheer Shahbaz tore into them, taking a brilliant 5-16, in a total of 80 all out.

Skipper Greg Applegarth (40no) and Daniel Shurben (30no) guided Sunderland to victory.

They will now face the Colliers in the final after they beat Burnopfiel­d by seven wickets.

Whitburn lost out to Lanchester by one wicket in an exciting low scoring match at the Village Ground in the semi-finals of the Banks Salver Plaque.

The home side decided to bat first but only Sam Harris (29) made any impact as Callum Barnes took 3-8 and there were two wickets apiece for Kieran Milburn and Kieron Taylor in a total of 114 all out.

Openers Graham Brinton (28) and Luke McCabe (15) put on 37 runs for the first wicket but then Ewan Jenkins and Laurence Wood struck and they collapsed to 52-6.

However, Stuart McPhail made 15 not out late on to secure a nervous one wicket win in a final total of 115-9.

Lanchester now play Blaydon in the final.

Sacriston missed out on the final as they welcomed Blaydon and were asked to bat first, totalling 117 all out.

Daniel Stephenson with 30 and Nathan Hall with 23 were the top scorers, while Gary Stewart with 4-31 and Ross Nicholson 3-20 were the bowling stars.

In reply the visitors were soon in their stride as openers Liam Clarke (45no) and Paul Underwood (37) put on 105 runs for the first wicket in a winning total of 120-2.

South Shields beat Seaham Harbour at New Drive by seven wickets to make it nine wins out of nine and claim top spot in Group A of the Durham Cricket League’s Frank Lees Cup.

The home side batted first and made 142 all out with top s c o re r s S t e wa r t Patt i s o n making 38 and Ian Pattison 24.

Joshua Leslie claimed 3-36 and there were two wickets apiece for Chris Stewart, Alex Thompson and Eliott Campbell.

Lu ke E l l i ott ( 3 0 ) , C h r i s Rainbow (36) and Ben Scott (31no) soon made the runs required for victory with their team finishing on 143-3.

Hylton finished in second place as they beat Silksworth at home by five wickets.

The visitors took first

knock and made only 118 all out with opener Andy Barrass scoring 64 of those runs.

Adam Crooks took an excellent 5-31, while Ian Male claimed 3-9.

Opener Matty Billyard led the way to victory as he made 53 and Reece Pearn added 21 not out in a final total of 119-5 despite Jonny Hall claiming 3-14.

Dawdon lost at home to M a r s d e n at We l f a re Pa rk despite scoring a mammoth 290-3.

Openers Steven Gale smashed 126 from 102 balls, which included 18 fours and a six, and Alan Anderson hit 78 as they put on 128 runs for the first wicket. David Abdy added 54 not out, as Matthew

Hughes claimed 2-34.

The visitors then hammered 294-4 with Owen Peterson making 99 not out, Chris Mann 58, Colin Mann 65 and Patrick Jackson 32 in a thrilling six wicket win.

In Group B Brandon beat Ushaw Moor at Brandon Lane by a massive 112 runs.

They scored 279-3 with Gordon Muchall scoring a brilliant 168 from 102 balls, which included seven fours and 13 sixes, alongside Dean Storey Jnr who made 52.

Ushaw started reasonably well as Lewis Cook scored 35 and Jonna Lane 30 but Jamie Robinson (4-38) and Jordan Grosert (3-14) restricted them to 167 all out.

Littletown won by just five

runs at Peterlee in an exciting low scoring match at the Helford Oval.

They scored just 79 runs with Gregg Arundel top scoring with 28, while Andrew L a i d l e r ( 4 -1 0 ) a n d D a n i e l Devine (3-28) were the bowling stars.

I n re p l y th e h o m e s id e were all out for 72 as Paul Cassell claimed 3-25, Matthew Fishburn 3-14 and David Craig 3-11 to bowl their side to victory.
