Footage shows off-road bike colliding with car
Police have released camera footage of the moment an offroad bike slams into a car after apparently jumping a red light.
The dashcam recording shows the biker get quickly bac k up o n his feet before running away with his bike in the direction of a nearby pub as the startled female motorist gets out of her stationary vehicle.
Other bikes– including one which swerves to avoid a similar collision– are seen whizzing past the scene.
Durham Constabulary released the footage via social media in the hope that the public can help them identify seven riders they wish to speak to in connection with the Durham City incident.
A force statement said: “Police are appealing for information after an offroad bike collided with a car last weekend.
“The collision took place on the A 167 at Neville’ s Cross, at around 12.45 pm on Sunday, September 6.
“A group of seven bikes are believed to have ridden th rough a red light, resulting in one of the riders colliding with a white Volkswagen Golf.
“Dashcam footage of the incident shows the crashed rider, on a blue and white bike, fleet he scene.
“Witnesses reported that the group headed south on the A167 towards the Duke of Wellington.”
Officers investigating the crash are keen to identify any of the riders involved and anyone with any information about their identity or the incident is urged to contact Durham Police on 101, quoting incident number 167 of September 6.
