Readers says ‘let’s get Brexit done and dusted’
The United Kingdom’s transition period for leaving the European Union after Brexit is due to expire at the end of this year – but do you think an extension should be permitted as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak?
The post-Brexit transition period will run out on New Year’s Eve – and time is running out to strike a deal with the EU, which would cover everything from trade to the movement of people across the continent.
With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic still causing chaos across the world, we asked the Echo readers for their opinions on extending the Brexit transition period with a view to securing a deal for the future.

Stuart Oliver: “Never mind coronavirus, we are nowhere near getting our customs systems up and running.
"Unless the transition period is extended, there will be chaos at the ports regardless of whether or not a trade deal is agreed.”
Stefan Lewell-Price: “I voted for Brexit and still support this.
‘A deal would be the best option. I’d have no objection to an extension.”
Paul Brew is :“Get this whole sorry saga over and done with and let's get the UK back on track.”
Diane Scouler: “No more waiting we voted to leave just get on with it.”
Stephen Pike: "Extend it six months and then what? Get out and get out now and follow the democratic vote.”
David Rose: “Definitely not. Get it done and dusted with or without a deal.”
Allen Curtis: “Don’t think it should be extended but I do think we need some type of deal.”
