Another loan move for former Black Cat Asoro

-

Joel Asoro looks set to continue his nomadic existence since leaving Sunderland – with Italian side Genoa keen on a loan move for the striker.

T h e Swe d i s h fo r wa rd joined Swansea City following the Black Cats’ relegation to League One, but has failed to make his mark at the Liberty Stadium.

Indeed, Asoro has made just 13 appearances for the Swans while failing to score, and spent last season on loan with Dutch side FC Groningen.

Speaking to press in the Netherlands last year, Asoro hinted that his move away from the Stadium of Light may have been the wrong one.

“Last season I didn’t really play much,” he told Fox Sports Netherlands.

"I ’m n o t re a l l y h a p py about it, but it is what it is.

“Sometimes it’s the right step, sometimes maybe not.

"But sometimes you learn from it.”

And now he looks set for a n oth e r l oa n m ove, w i th Swansea boss Steve Cooper confirming that Serie A side Genoa are eyeing a move for the 21-year-old.

Speaking at the weekend, Cooper told WalesOnline: "I can't clarify much.

"I k n ow th ey ' re i nte r - e s te d i n h i m , but I ' m n ot too sure where the deal is in terms of whether it's completely right for us, him or Genoa.

"I'll find out a little bit later on, but there is truth in it."

Reports in Italy suggest a deal is close to being struck, with Asoro set to pen a season-long loan deal with the Italian side.

The striker still has two years remaining on his contract at Swansea.
