True Tories need to act

-

Mrs Thatcher said, “The first duty of government is to uphold the law. If it tries to bob and weave and duck [sic] around that duty when it’s inconvenient; if a government does that, then so will the governed; and then, nothing is safe – not home, not liberty, not life itself.”

On Monday, Tories voted for the idea of breaking international law.

All previous living Prime Ministers have condemned it; John Major, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Theresa May.

The US and the EU will not do a trade deal with UK if Boris gets his way.

He proposed the withdrawal bill, he made an election promise, he insisted MPs voted for it, his Brexit deal was not ‘over-ready’ but really half-baked.

The majority of people who vote conservative are not law-breakers. They must feel, deep down, ashamed and frightened of what this government is doing, and they must feel angry they have been let down, lied to and misled. They placed their trust in what they thought was the party of Churchill, Thatcher, Major, Cameron and May but their trust has been cynically betrayed. Their party has been hijacked by charlatans who are hellbent on rubbishing values they hold dear; honesty, integrity, decency, keeping their word, admitting mistakes, resigning as a matter of honour, sticking to promises, adherence to conventions and the constitutional principle of sovereignty of parliament. This Tory government is turning the UK into an untrustworthy laughing stock.

Now is the time for true Conservatives to assert themselves and remove this bunch of bumbling, incompetent, self-serving dissemblers before they do even more irreparable damage to our country.
