Raffling home is just the ticket for charity

A Sunderland family who is raffling their £168,000 home in the hopes of fulfilling their dream move to Australia will donate 5% of the proceeds to the Bradley Lowery Foundation.

Paul and Christine McD o n a l d a re ra f f l i n g th e i r four-bedroom Tunstall Hill home for just £2.50 a ticket.

The couple, who are parents to 16-year-old Luke and 13-year-old Evan, are hoping to sell 100,000 tickets so they can fulfil their dreams of moving to Australia.

In a matter of weeks, the family, who featured on an episode of the BBC show Wa nte d D ow n Un d e r l a s t year, have already sold more than 25,000 tickets.

Now they’ve pledged to donate 5% of their takings from the raffle to the Bradley Lowery Foundation when all 100,000 tickets are sold.

Christine, a mental health worker for the NHS, said: “We h ave s o l d m o re th a n 25,000 tickets so far.

"We d e c i d e d t h a t w e would be in a position to benefit a charity once we sell all 100,000 tickets.

"We took the Bradley story to our hearts so we thought wh at b ette r th a n h e l p i n g with their holiday home for poorly children.

"So not only could someo n e b e m o rtga ge - f re e, we would also be helping out lots of other families through the foundation.”

The lucky winner of the draw, which is operated by online raffle platform Raffall, will be chosen at random when all 100,000 tickets have been sold – with a deadline of Saturday, December 5.

The foundation was set up by the parents of Sunderland AFC fan Bradley Lowery to support other families in honour of the brave six-yearold.

Mum Gemma Lowery said: “We are very touched that Christine and her family have pledged to donate 5% of their raffle money to the Bradley Lowery Foundation.

"L i ke a l l c h a r i t ie s , ou r f u n d - ra i s i n g e f f o r t s h ave been hit hard by the coronaviru­s, because we rely on donations to keep going.

“We wish Christine and her family the best of luck w i th th e ra f f l e a n d th a n k them for their support.

"The money they raise will enable us to keep helping dozens of poorly children and their families to get the help and support they need.”
