Washington United assistant manager Kallum Warne hailed his side after they came from two goals down against G ate s h ead L ea m R a n ge r s to claim their first win as a Wearside League club.

After taking just one point f ro m th e i r o p e n i n g fou r games of the season, United looked to be heading towards another defeat.

Aidan Rutledge and Jordan Bolton found the net to put their hosts in control at half-time.

But former Chester-leStreet Town striker Harry Wood led the recovery as his second-half hat-trick helped his side to their maiden win of the season.

After the game, Warne told The Echo: “Everyone involved with the team is over the moon to get our first three points on the board.

“T h e l a d s k n e w t h at the first-half was not good enough in terms of quality on the ball, so massive credit to them for turning it around in the second-half.

“They could have easily folded and threw the towel in, but they didn’t.

“They showed they were willing to work hard for each other and produced some excellent moments in the second-half.

“We n o w m o v e o n t o We d n e s d ay ’s h o m e ga m e against Richmond Town filled with confidence that we can go again.”

Boldon CA came out on top in a meeting of two sides in good form as they stretched their lead at the top of the tab l e to thre e p oi nt s w ith a home win against Silksworth CW.

David Crumbie’s men did all of the hard work in the first-half as a Dan Wright b rac e a n d a n oth e r goa l s from top scorer Levi Collins put them three goals ahead at the interval – but their visitors rallied and threatened to complete an unlikely comebac k as E l l iott Te n c h a n d Brandon Alderson set up a grandstand finish.

However, Boldon held off late pressure from a confident Silksworth side and ensured that they claimed their seventh win in as many games this season.

Farringdon Detached are now unbeaten in their last four games after they shared the points in a six-goal thriller at West Auckland Tunns.

Jason Brazauskas grabbed a brace for the Tunns and Marc Bell was also on target once again.

But they had to settle for a 3-3 draw as two own goals and a debut strike from former Silksworth CW player Daniel Thompson helped Farringdon continue their solid run of form.

Durham United moved into the top five as they extended FC Hartlepool’s poor run of form with a 3-1 win at Grayfields.

The visitors took a twogoal lead into half-time thanks to a penalty from Matty Pennal and an own-goal.

Hartlepool reduced the arrears five minutes into the second-half when Sam Cook fired home from 20 yards – but Pennal’s second spot-kick of the day helped United take the points.

H a r tl e p o o l b o s s M a rk Loynes said: “We are under no illusions that we are in a bit of a rut, confidence is low, and we need to start picking up points quickly.”

Windscale picked up their first win of the season as they claimed a 2-1 home win against Darlington Town. Matthew Metcalf and Lewis Jolly put the Cumbrians two goals ahead at half-time and they secured the win despite Vinny Gash halving the deficit during the second-half.
