Cats face competition for Leeds ace Gotts
The future destination of Robbie Gotts remains a hot topic ahead of Friday’s 5pm deadline, with Charlton Athletic reported to have joined the race to sign the Leeds United midfielder.
Sunderland have previously been credited with an interest in him, though manager Phil Parkinson remained coy when quizzed earlier this week.
Swindon Town have confirmed their interest in the midfielder, however, ahead of the Friday teatime deadline for domestic deals in England.
While Parkinson was giving little away on links with th e 2 0 -yea r - o l d , Sw i n d o n coach Tommy Wright has confirmed that his side are keen to strike a deal for the Marcelo Bielsa favourite.
But he was quick to insist the deal was not a ‘definite’, with Hull and Hudders - field among the other clubs linked.
“I’ve watched Robbie quite a lot for Leeds – I know Leeds well having been there as a player,” said Wright, speaking to the Swindon Advertiser.
“He’s a good young player. You can see me smiling as I say that. I’m not saying it’s definite, but there is a bit of interest there from our point of view.
“But I think there is quite a bit of interest from plenty of other clubs too in Robbie.”
Sunderland are well stocked for central midfielders with the priority bolstering options in defence.
Parkinson said earlier this week: "In that area we've got a lot of players.
“We' v e a l s o g o t s o m e youngsters of our own in that position.
“There is an area or two that we'd like to be stronger and we'll do our very best.”
