Investigat­ion after arrest of man with blood stains

A man, who was covered in blood despite being uninjured, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after knocking on a window and asking for help and money.

The man, who was wearing blood-stained clothes, is alleged to have knocked on a window at an address in Beverly Court, in Concord, and asked for help and money at 7.45am on Monday morning.

Police officers located the man, who did not have any serious injuries, and he was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody.

An investigat­ion is now ongoing to uncover the nature of the incident and trace any other parties involved.

At the time, no one is believed to have reported to police with any injuries.

A police cordon is in place around a house in Beverly Court and crime scene investigat­ion teams are at the scene.

A Northumbri­a Police spokespers­on said: “At 7.45am today we received a report of concern for a male who had approached an address on Beverley Court, Concord, and was knocking on the window.

“It was reported that the man was wearing bloodstain­ed clothes and was asking for help and money.

“Officers attended and located the man who did not have any serious injuries. He has since been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody.

“Inquiries are ongoing to ascertain the nature of the incident and trace any other parties involved. Anyone with informatio­n is asked to contact police on 101.”
