Ja ck ettt old The News: “Jordy Hiwula will be signing this morning, training with the team and is available for Sunderland.

“He brings pace, he has very natural pace, and is a forward who, at different times in games, gets pushed wide, but I do see him as a forward.

"I like his pace, that’s a big thing.”

Jackett believes unbeaten Sunderland will be strong promotion contenders this season.

Ahead of the weekend game, Jackett told his press conference: “They are going to be up there Sunderland, definitely.

"They will be no surprise to anybody and looking at the start of the year, it looks like they will be one of the sides to be up against again if you want to compete.

"It’s always a hard game against Sunderland because they are good and also, we have had some terrific games against them as well over the years.

"Every week, we are disappointed that the crowds can’t be there but that goes right the way through football.

"For us, playing at the Stadium of Light is an exciting game and one we are looking forward to.

"It is a good game. They have a very good squad of players, they are well organised and they have started the season well.

"It is not really a surprise to people that that has happened.

"We will need to be at our best on Saturday, we know that but also, we are looking forward to the game.”

He added: "They are good games and everybody would say the same, whether that is you are going to play Sunderland away, Sunderland away is a good game.

"It’s a game to look forward to and we are no different to any other club, we would have been looking at the game at the start of the year and very much looking for to it.”

Pompey head into the game on the back of a 2-0 away win at Gillingham in midweek.
