Sunderland fans divided on bringing back A-Mac

-

Sunderland fans have had plenty to say on the subject of Aiden McGeady – with the debate over whether the winger should return to the first-team fold raging on.

The 34-year-old hasn’t featured for the Black Cats since late last year and looks unlikely to be handed an opportunity under Phil Parkinson, who was willing to allow McGeady to leave during the summer transfer window.

But a combination of Sunderland’s frustrating draw at Rochdale and McGeady coming out to defend comments made about his approach towards teammates behind the scenes, has seen calls grow for the former Celtic man to be handed another chance.

However, there are some wh o re m a i n u n su re a s to whether the winger should be given another opportunity at the Stadium of Light.

So what have people been saying on social media?

On Facebook, Len Adams said; “Well, like him or loathe him, he has more creativity in his game than any of the others who have played this season.”

But Tom Shoulder argued: “We need to go forward not backward why not get Clattermole back while we are on?”

Shaun Cockburn commented: “Yes get him back at least give him a chance.”

But Paul Taylor posted: “No! Move on please.”

On Twitter, meanwhile, @ jcorbett12 said: “It’s beyond belief that he isn’t already back in the team.”

But @ hjohnson198 tweeted: “What happens to the youngsters when you add a 34 year old into the squad..... they wont play.”

@ryjamessy posted: “Yes, there is nothing wrong with what he said.”
