Sunderland shop aims to box up festive joy

-

A Sunderland store is inviting customers to help deliver a little joy this Christmas.

The Dun elm store, in Timber Beach Road, is taking part in the home ware retailer’ s national Delivering Joy campaign, which aims to provide thousands of gifts across the country to those less fortunate this Christmas.

Shoppers in Sunderland are being invited to donate a shoebox of gifts from now until December 11, which will be delivered to local residents of St Georges care home.

Donations will also be sent to local schools and women’s refuges across the region.

The tags can be found on the Christmas tree at the front of the store, where staff will provide shoppers with a shoebox to then fill with gifts and place under the tree.

Gary Jarvis, store manager, said: “It has been a challenging year and we, with the support of our customers, are committed to helping those within the community who are less fortunate this Christmas.

“We’ve seen such a positive response to the campaign that we’ re confident that with the generous support from the people of Sunderland, we’ll be able to put smiles on hundreds of deserving faces.”

Full social distancing and strict hygiene measures are operating in store.

Shoppers can help deliver joy this Christmas every day during the opening hours of 9am – 8pm MondaySaturday and 10:30am – 5pm on Sunday, from now until Friday 11th December.

Shoeboxes will then be sanitised and wrapped before being delivered.
